Helping Hands for Homeless Youth

Helping Hands for Homeless Youth UAlberta is a fully student-run group established in 2014. Our club history includes many years of a collaborative partnership with Edmonton’s Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS), and affiliations with other groups such as the Old Strathcona Youth Society (OSYS). The vision of this group is to reduce barriers for youth aged 15-24 in seeking help and resources, creating opportunities to aid their emotional, physical, and developmental well-being, and collaborating with other groups to holistically advocate and raise awareness for youth homelessness.

Annually, we organize and run the Street Store in conjunction with YESS to provide free clothing to youth in need. We also plan fundraisers throughout the year to fund projects and directly donate funds to YESS. Connecting university tutors with students in need has been another one of our focuses in recent years.
